I have no idea what money we will spend in the close season but i'd like to see us tempt Mata away from his bench warming at Man United.
No doubt he'll have other clubs interested, so would be tough, but it would be a great aquisition.
That said, he isn't really a Sam type player and you did ask who Sam should buy so best you ignore me.

I think you are almost certainly right. But if we could somehow get some of the dead weight higher earners off the books he is the sort of player i'd love to see us go for.
A good few seasons too early to be hoping for that though I think.
Plus I have no idea what length contract he is on and therefore what his likely fee would be.

On similar lines, I think Stevan Jovetic could be prised from bench warming at Man City now they have Bony. Although he's not done much there, he hasn't really been given a proper run. At Fiorentina I saw a bit of him and he was a very skillful player, good finisher too and still fairly young. l seem to remember him giving England real headaches for Montenegro.
Again, perhaps not an Allardyce type player though.
